Marble, like wood, is a porous material and, as such, absorbs any liquid. We advise you to always use coasters and placemats to protect the surface, and don't place hot items on top. Especially protect from acidic surfaces like wine, coffee, fruit juices and tomato sauce. If you happen to spill anything, blot the area immediately and rinse with a clean, damp cloth.
